About Thomas, OK - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Thomas, Oklahoma is a small city found in Custer County, and as of 2010 the population had nearly reached 1,200 residents. This community is situated at the intersection of Oklahoma State Highways 47 and 33, and it originally served as a prominent trading post. Later, it became a bedroom community with a majority of its residents commuting to nearby towns to work. There are two elementary schools found in this town, and older students will complete their education at Thomas-Fay-Custer Unified Senior High School.
As a small community, Thomas isn’t home to many prominent attractions. However, there are a few places to shop and dine here. The historic Thomas Drug and Variety Center is found here, as are the Open Window, a local floral shop, and Hockaday Hardware. Notable restaurants include Yoder’s Café, Miller Gas & Grub, and Big T Drive-In. Larger attractions can be found in neighboring communities, like the Water Zoo Indoor Water Park in Clinton and the National Route 66 Museum in Elk City.
When it comes to weather in Thomas, the only thing that you can rely on being consistent is the summer temperatures. These months are always hot and humid, and Julys in Thomas see average high temperatures reaching the mid- to upper-90s, although thermostat readings into the triple digits aren’t uncommon. A central air conditioning unit is a necessity, but an old and outdated system could cost a fortune in monthly cooling costs. Your local Thomas HVAC technician can help you to find an energy efficient model to stay cool and save money during the sweltering summer months.
Climate controls are also needed here in the winter months. Weather conditions are cool to cold in terms of temperature, and snowfall totals vary every year. Some seasons see heavy snow and ice storms, and during these years, it is especially important to have a reliable heat pump or furnace in your home or business to prevent expensive pipework from freezing.
